People Portal II (PPII)

For screening people, the People Portal was developed to provide the most comprehensive and acceptable means to enter secured areas. Safety testing of the People Portal I (PPI) by an FAA qualified laboratory established that the dielectric microwave energy employed by this technology was dramatically lower than the allowable standards set by international testing authorities.

The People Portal II (PPII) is a comprehensive full body scanner that utilizes a unique patented technology to screen people entering secured areas. When used at airport checkpoints, it can automatically and without operator interpretation identify a wide range of threats carried on a passenger's body. Threat can be detected within 2-3 seconds, including metallic and non-metallic weapons, explosives, drugs, and flammable substances made of any non-physiological material. The portal operates with an over 85 percent success rate and less than 15 percent false positive rate. Materials that are difficult to contrast with other scanning technologies, such as weapons made from glass and ceramics and explosives made from synthetic materials are found by the PPII. Superior to its competition, the PPII offers the most comprehensive security scanning technology available, safely and without invading of privacy. The dielectric low-level microwaves at the heart of this technology platform are non-ionizing (no electrical charges), non-cumulative (unlike X-rays), non-mechanically fatiguing (as with ultrasound), physically non-invasive (unlike catheterization) and non-intrusive (no contact or shape detection). These are significant advancements when compared to other emerging technologies and existing metal detecting portal systems that are in desperate need of replacement.

  It's comprehensive.

All threat classifications and anomalies can be detected, including metallic and non-metallic weapons, explosives, drugs, and flammable substances made of any non-physiological material. Materials that are difficult to contrast with other scanning technologies, such as certain explosive materials and threats made of plastics, glass, and ceramics are found with the PPII. The portal can also be calibrated to higher standards so that anomalous head sweats and fevers could be detected, flagging an individual for closer scrutiny.

  It's non-invasive.

Unlike competing technologies, no picture of an individual's actual anatomy is ever produced, seen or exhibited. The operator sees only a wire-frame image indicating where an anomaly is located. It's safe. The measurable level of EMF energy emission has been independently determined to be well below allowable standards set by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and national and international EMF standards. In fact, this technology's measured level of EMF is less than that emitted by overhead fluorescent lights, making it ideal for product designs that involve uses with people.

  It's accurate.

The scanning accuracy of the portal (approximately 85 percent with less than a 15 percent false-positive rate) is believed to be superior to any competing systems on the market today since it does not rely on operator interpretation of images.

  It's inexpensive to Operate.

Fewer false-positive readings and physical inspections mean fewer personnel need to be employed to provide security and protection.

  It's Convenient.

It's Convenient. The PPII finds threats quickly, with fewer frustrating false-positives. Detection speed and fast thruput result in less massing of people in one area. There is no need for people to remove clothing or shoes.
